COLUMBIA — Police have applied for a second-degree domestic assault arrest warrant for a 36-year-old man suspected of assaulting and kidnapping his girlfriend, Columbia Police Department Public Information Officer Latisha Stroer said.

Police are still looking for the man, Arthur C. Williams.

Williams is suspected of assaulting his 35-year-old girlfriend and kidnapping her from her home at 1403 Greensboro Dr. in Columbia just after 11 a.m. on Tuesday, according to a previous Missourian report. Williams left the woman and her car at the MU Women’s and Children’s Hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

Stroer said the woman had a cut on her hand. A female witness told police she saw the suspect punch the woman several times, Stroer said. The witness then ran inside her house to seek the help of a male acquaintance. The male witness said he didn’t see the assault but saw the suspect take the victim away in her car while she screamed for help, Stroer said.

An earlier Missourian article reported that Williams was last seen leaving on foot near the MU Women’s and Children’s Hospital in the area of Keene Street.

Williams is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 190 pounds, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department.

Police have asked anyone with information about Williams’ location to call 875-TIPS.
