A woman and her niece were found dead in a house in the capital’s sector F-11/2 on Saturday, according to police.

The dead bodies of a 35-year-old woman and her niece, believed to be seven-years-old, were discovered in a washroom of the house, a police officer told The Express Tribune.

The bodies were left inside a “polypropylene” trash bag in the washroom. Police believe the woman and the girl might have suffocated to death.

“There were no obvious marks of torture on the dead bodies,” the police officer. “The apparent cause of death might be asphyxiation.”

The investigating officer on the case

With very few details available about the incident on Saturday evening, police authorities said the house belonged to a man named Shahzad Kashif. But police claimed they were still trying to establish if the homeowner was connected to the deaths in any way.

Shalimar police station said an investigation was being conducted to figure out whether the woman and girl were murdered and, if so, what was the motive behind the killings.
